Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TPT-005 is a preclinical-stage small molecule therapeutic being developed by Tenpoint Therapeutics for the treatment of cataracts. It functions as a pharmacological chaperone designed to bind to and stabilize crystallin proteins within the ocular lens. By preventing or reversing the misfolding and aggregation of these proteins—the primary biological process responsible for lens opacification—TPT-005 aims to restore lens transparency and provide a non-surgical alternative for vision improvement in cataract patients. The program was a core part of Tenpoint's initial pipeline focused on regenerative medicine and aging eye diseases, which was further expanded following the company's merger with Visus Therapeutics in December 2024.
