TPU-030

TPU-030 is a transdermal patch formulation of dexmedetomidine developed by Teikoku Pharma USA. Utilizing a proprietary drug-in-adhesive transdermal delivery system, TPU-030 is designed to provide continuous systemic delivery of dexmedetomidine over a 4-day wear period. Dexmedetomidine is a potent and highly selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that exerts sedative, anxiolytic, and analgesic effects by inhibiting the release of norepinephrine in the central nervous system. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the management of agitation associated with dementia of the Alzheimer's type. This formulation aims to provide a non-invasive, long-acting therapeutic option to stabilize behavioral symptoms in patients with cognitive impairment, potentially reducing the caregiver burden and the need for frequent dosing.
