Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TPZ-01 is a proprietary protein ingredient, specifically a patented enzyme, developed by Topaz Biosciences for the treatment and management of eczema. It selectively targets and reduces *Staphylococcus aureus*, a bacterium that can comprise up to 90% of the skin's microbiome during eczema flare-ups, while preserving beneficial commensal bacteria such as *Staphylococcus epidermidis* and *Corynebacterium* species. Administered topically through formulations like hydrogels, sprays, and creams, TPZ-01 is the key active ingredient in the Hypothesis™ eczema skincare line, which launched in October 2025. Clinical trials have shown that TPZ-01 is significantly more effective than standard colloidal oatmeal treatments in reducing eczema symptoms and pathogen load.
