Overview

TQ-1011 is a proprietary, injectable, non-opioid analgesic formulation of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac, developed by TheraQuest Biosciences. It was primarily investigated for the management of moderate to severe acute postsurgical pain, such as that following dental or orthopedic procedures. In Phase II clinical trials, TQ-1011 demonstrated a rapid onset of analgesia (within 5–7 minutes) and significant efficacy, proving superior to both placebo and morphine in pain reduction. The drug's mechanism involves the non-selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which prevents the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Despite promising early results in the mid-2000s, development of TQ-1011 appears to have been discontinued.
