Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TQ-TFB is a synthetic analog of thymoquinone (TQ), a bioactive compound derived from the *Nigella sativa* (black seed) plant. Developed to overcome the poor bioavailability and high pharmacological dose requirements of parent thymoquinone, TQ-TFB exhibits enhanced anti-tumor activity and potency in gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic and colon cancers. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of multiple signaling pathways, specifically targeting NF-kB and COX-2, which leads to the suppression of tumor survival and angiogenic signaling. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that TQ-TFB synergizes with standard-of-care chemotherapies such as gemcitabine and FOLFOX.
