Overview

TQA3526 is a novel, synthetic small molecule that acts as an agonist of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR). It is being developed primarily for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). Preclinical and early clinical studies have shown that TQA3526 increases circulating fibroblast growth factor-19 (FGF19) and decreases levels of bile acid precursor C4, indicating effective FXR activation. The drug has demonstrated good safety and tolerability in healthy subjects at doses below 10 mg/day, with pruritus being the most common adverse event. Pharmacokinetic studies indicate dose-dependent exposure and plasma accumulation with repeated dosing. The compound is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials for PBC[1][2][3][4].
