TQA3563 is a small molecule farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist developed by Jiangsu Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), now commonly referred to as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). FXR is a nuclear receptor highly expressed in the liver and intestine that plays a critical role in bile acid metabolism, lipid homeostasis, and glucose metabolism. By activating FXR, TQA3563 aims to reduce hepatic fat accumulation, inflammation, and fibrosis. The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in patients with NASH/MASH, following successful early-phase studies in healthy volunteers.
