Overview

TQC3566 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody of mepolizumab (Nucala) being developed by Chia Tai Tianqing and Shanghai Henlius Biotech. It targets interleukin-5 (IL-5), a key cytokine responsible for the growth, activation, and survival of eosinophils. By binding to IL-5, TQC3566 prevents its interaction with the IL-5 receptor on the surface of eosinophils, thereby reducing eosinophil levels and mitigating eosinophil-driven inflammation. The drug is being developed for subcutaneous administration for the treatment of eosinophil-mediated inflammatory diseases, including severe eosinophilic asthma, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES), and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). It has entered Phase I clinical evaluation in China to demonstrate pharmacokinetic and safety biosimilarity to the reference product.
