Overview

**TQD3606** is an investigational intravenous fixed-dose antibacterial combination of **meropenem** and **avibactam** being developed by Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group. Meropenem is a broad-spectrum carbapenem that inhibits bacterial penicillin-binding proteins and cell-wall synthesis, while avibactam is a reversible covalent inhibitor of susceptible serine beta-lactamases that protects meropenem from enzymatic degradation. The combination is in Phase 1 clinical development in China, including pharmacokinetic, safety, urinary-excretion, and renal-impairment studies for bacterial infections, including carbapenem-resistant bacterial infections.
