Overview

TQF6422 is a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody designed to target the Activin receptor type II A/B (ActRII A/B). Developed by Chia Tai-Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group (a subsidiary of Sino Biopharmaceutical), TQF6422 is being investigated for weight management in adult patients with obesity or overweight individuals with weight-related comorbidities. Unlike traditional GLP-1 receptor agonists that primarily suppress appetite and can lead to significant muscle loss, TQF6422 utilizes a dual-action mechanism. By binding to ActRII A/B, it blocks signaling pathways mediated by ligands such as activin and myostatin. In adipocytes, this blockade enhances lipolysis and reduces visceral fat accumulation, while in muscle cells, it prevents muscle atrophy and promotes skeletal muscle growth, thereby achieving the dual therapeutic benefit of fat loss and muscle gain.
