Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TQG203 is a recombinant human activated coagulation factor VII (rFVIIa) developed by Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group, a subsidiary of Sino Biopharmaceutical. It is a biologic therapeutic designed for the on-demand treatment of bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A or hemophilia B who have developed inhibitors (neutralizing antibodies) against factor VIII or factor IX. TQG203 works as a bypass agent in the coagulation cascade; it complexes with tissue factor at the site of vascular injury to activate coagulation factor X and factor IX, and at high pharmacological doses, it can directly activate factor X on the surface of activated platelets. This process leads to a thrombin burst that promotes fibrin clot formation independently of factors VIII and IX. The drug is currently in Phase 3 clinical development.
