Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TQH2227 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody under development by Chia Tai Tianqing (through its subsidiary Nanjing Shunxin Pharmaceutical) and Shanghai Henlius Biotech. It is designed to selectively target and neutralize the p19 subunit of interleukin-23 (IL-23), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. By blocking the interaction of IL-23 with its receptor, TQH2227 inhibits the downstream IL-23/Th17 signaling pathway, thereby reducing the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17 and IL-22. TQH2227 is being developed as a biosimilar to Janssen's Tremfya (guselkumab) for the treatment of plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, including pharmacokinetic comparison studies against the reference product.
