Overview

TRA16 (also known as OxDc-A0) is a recombinant oxalate decarboxylase enzyme developed by Wuhan Kangfude Biotechnology (Kangfude Urolithiasis Institute) for the treatment of secondary hyperoxaluria. Administered orally, the enzyme is designed to be gastro-tolerant, allowing it to degrade dietary oxalate within the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. By reducing the available oxalate pool in the gut, TRA16 limits oxalate absorption into the bloodstream and subsequent urinary excretion, thereby potentially preventing the formation of calcium oxalate kidney stones and managing metabolic conditions associated with high oxalate levels. The drug has completed Phase 2 clinical trials in China and is being prepared for global Phase 3 development.
