Overview
TRADIANCE is a combination tablet containing empagliflozin and linagliptin, indicated for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Japanese patients. Empagliflozin is a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, which works by reducing renal glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that prevents the degradation of incretin hormones like GLP-1 and GIP, enhancing their insulinotropic and glucagon release inhibitory effects in a glucose-dependent manner. This dual mechanism of action helps to improve glycemic control in patients with Type 2 Diabetes. The drug is developed by Boehringer Ingelheim and Lilly, and manufactured by Nippon Boehringer Ingelheim Co., Ltd. for the Japanese market.
