Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Traditional Warm Meridians and Relieve Pain Plaster is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical formulation developed by the Beijing Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. It is designed to treat chronic pelvic pain and the sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), specifically for patients presenting with the cold-dampness stasis pattern. The plaster is a multi-herb compound containing *Angelica sinensis*, *Ligusticum chuanxiong*, Cinnamon, Sichuan pepper, *Corydalis yanhusuo*, *Fructus Evodiae*, *Paeonia lactiflorus*, *Artemisia argyi*, Cyperus, Zelan, and Muxiang. These ingredients are ground and mixed with Vaseline for topical application to the navel (umbilicus). Its mechanism of action is based on TCM principles of warming the meridians, dispersing cold, promoting qi and blood circulation, and alleviating pain. It is currently being evaluated in a randomized controlled trial (NCT06360965) comparing the traditional version with an improved formulation.
