Trailhead Biosystems hiPSC-derived dopaminergic neurons is an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell therapy designed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Developed using the company's proprietary High-Dimensional Design of Experiments (HD-DoE) platform, the product consists of highly pure populations of dopamine-producing neurons. The therapeutic approach is based on cell replacement, where these neurons are transplanted into the striatum to replace the endogenous dopaminergic neurons that degenerate during the course of the disease. By restoring the local production of dopamine, the therapy aims to re-establish dopaminergic signaling and improve motor function in affected patients.
