Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tramadol + flurbiprofen is a fixed-dose combination analgesic containing two active pharmaceutical ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action. Tramadol is a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic that exerts its effect primarily through agonism at the μ-opioid receptor, as well as inhibition of serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake, providing both opioid and non-opioid pain relief. Flurbiprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) from the propionic acid class that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever. The combination aims to provide enhanced analgesia for moderate to severe pain by targeting both central and peripheral pathways. It has been studied in acute dental/endodontic pain settings, showing superior efficacy compared to either agent alone or placebo[1][2].
