Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Albufree TX is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product containing tranexamic acid and etamsylate, primarily utilized in the management of abnormal uterine bleeding and other conditions characterized by excessive blood loss. Tranexamic acid is a synthetic lysine derivative that acts as an antifibrinolytic by competitively inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, thereby stabilizing fibrin clots and preventing their premature degradation. Etamsylate (also known as ethamsylate) is a hemostatic agent that enhances platelet adhesion and restores capillary resistance, providing a synergistic effect alongside tranexamic acid to reduce both the duration and volume of hemorrhage. The brand was originally part of Biocon's branded formulations portfolio in India before the division's acquisition by Eris Lifesciences.
