Overview

trans-resveratrol + hesperetin (tRES-HESP) is a dietary supplement consisting of the natural polyphenols trans-resveratrol and hesperetin. This combination acts as an inducer of glyoxalase 1 (Glo1), an enzyme that detoxifies methylglyoxal, a reactive dicarbonyl compound implicated in insulin resistance, vascular dysfunction, and neurodegeneration. The mechanism involves activation of the Nrf2 pathway, leading to increased Glo1 expression and reduced methylglyoxal levels. Clinical studies have shown that oral administration of tRES-HESP improves insulin sensitivity, glycemic control, vascular function, and reduces markers of inflammation in overweight or obese individuals with insulin resistance. Preclinical data also suggest neuroprotective effects against memory dysfunction and depression-like behavior via antioxidant, anti-apoptotic, and anti-inflammatory mechanisms[1][2][3][4][5][7].
