Overview

TransCon SNSP-404 is a long-acting protein therapeutic candidate that was part of a research collaboration between Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and Comera Life Sciences. The program aimed to utilize a drug delivery platform (erroneously identified as TransCon in some contexts, though Comera's proprietary platform is SQore) to create extended-release versions of Regeneron's protein-based therapeutics, specifically targeting indications in ophthalmology and inflammation. The technology was designed to extend the half-life of the active protein and reduce the frequency of dosing. Following a technical evaluation, Regeneron decided not to proceed with a license for the program, which was a significant factor in Comera Life Sciences' decision to wind down its operations in February 2024. The name 'TransCon SNSP-404' appears to be a misnomer or a blend of terms, as 'TransCon' is the proprietary technology of Ascendis Pharma, and 'SNSP' is a prefix typically associated with Sunsiray (Senespan) Pharmaceuticals.
