Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Transino is a prominent Japanese over-the-counter (OTC) brand developed by Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare, specifically formulated to treat skin hyperpigmentation issues such as melasma, spots, and freckles. The flagship product, Transino II, is a therapeutic agent for melasma that utilizes tranexamic acid as its primary active ingredient. Tranexamic acid works by inhibiting the plasminogen-plasmin system, which in turn suppresses the inflammatory signals that trigger melanocyte activity. The oral formulations often combine tranexamic acid with L-cysteine and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) to synergistically inhibit tyrosinase activity and promote the breakdown of existing melanin. The brand also encompasses a range of topical medicated (quasi-drug) skincare products designed to complement the oral treatments.
