Overview

TransMID is an investigational **transferrin-diphtheria toxin conjugate** developed for recurrent or progressive **glioblastoma multiforme**. It consists of human transferrin linked to **CRM107**, a mutated form of diphtheria toxin, and is administered directly into tumor tissue or the interstitium to exploit overexpression of the **transferrin receptor** on malignant glioma cells. After receptor-mediated uptake, the diphtheria toxin moiety inhibits protein synthesis and causes tumor cell death, making TransMID a targeted local antineoplastic biologic/fusion toxin therapy. Publicly verifiable sources include Phase III clinical trial records sponsored by Xenova and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for non-resectable recurrent glioblastoma multiforme.
