Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TrastuRel is a biosimilar version of trastuzumab, a humanized IgG1 kappa recombinant monoclonal antibody developed and marketed by Reliance Life Sciences. It selectively binds with high affinity to the extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) protein. By inhibiting HER2, the drug disrupts downstream signaling pathways that drive tumor cell proliferation and survival. Additionally, it mediates antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), leading to the destruction of HER2-overexpressing cancer cells. TrastuRel is approved for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer and HER2-positive gastric (stomach) cancer, and is available in both intravenous and subcutaneous formulations.
