Overview

Trastuzumab-dttb is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody to trastuzumab, marketed under the brand name Ontruzant. It is used for the treatment of HER2-overexpressing breast cancer (both early and metastatic) and HER2-overexpressing metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. Trastuzumab-dttb binds to the extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), inhibiting its signaling pathways, which leads to reduced proliferation and survival of cancer cells that overexpress this protein. The drug can be used alone or in combination with other chemotherapy agents depending on disease stage and prior treatments[1][4][3]. Its mechanism includes direct inhibition of tumor cell growth as well as immune-mediated effects such as antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity[1][6].
