Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Trastuzumab-pkrb is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody of trastuzumab, marketed under the brand name **Herzuma**. It is a humanized IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody that targets the extracellular domain of the **HER2/erbB2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2)**, which is overexpressed in certain cancers, most notably some forms of breast cancer. By binding to HER2, trastuzumab-pkrb inhibits downstream signaling pathways related to cell proliferation and survival, mediates **antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC)**, and helps destroy HER2-overexpressing tumor cells. It is indicated for the treatment of HER2-overexpressing breast cancer and administered by intravenous infusion. Trastuzumab-pkrb was developed as a biosimilar to trastuzumab (Herceptin) and is approved for use as an adjuvant and in metastatic breast cancer settings, either alone or alongside other chemotherapy agents.
