Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Traumaplant is a topical herbal cream developed and manufactured by Harras Pharma. It contains a specialized extract derived from the freshly harvested flowers, stems, and leaves of *Symphytum x uplandicum Nyman* (a hybrid cultivated comfrey). A defining characteristic of this product is that the comfrey variety used is specifically cultivated to be free of toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), which are typically a safety concern with comfrey-based products. The cream's therapeutic activity is attributed to bioactive compounds including rosmarinic acid, allantoin, and choline. Traumaplant is indicated for the treatment of pain, inflammation, and swelling associated with blunt injuries, muscle and joint pain, sprains, bruises, and abrasions. It also promotes wound healing in minor skin injuries. The product is marketed as an over-the-counter (OTC) medicinal cream in various countries, including Germany, and is distributed in the United States by EuroPharma under the Terry Naturally brand.
