Overview
TravaCalm is a line of over-the-counter (OTC) antiemetic medications developed by Key Pharmaceuticals, primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of motion sickness (travel sickness). The brand encompasses several formulations, most notably TravaCalm Original, which is a combination product containing dimenhydrinate, hyoscine hydrobromide, and caffeine. Dimenhydrinate acts as an H1 receptor antagonist to provide antiemetic and antihistaminic effects, while hyoscine hydrobromide (scopolamine) serves as an anticholinergic to reduce vestibular stimulation. Caffeine is included in the formulation to counteract the sedative side effects typically associated with antihistamines and anticholinergics. Other variants include TravaCalm H.O., which contains only hyoscine hydrobromide, and TravaCalm Natural (often branded as TravaEase), which utilizes ginger (Zingiber officinale) for its natural anti-nausea properties.
