Overview

TRC autologous bone marrow cells (Tissue Repair Cells) are a cell-based biologic therapy consisting of autologous bone marrow progenitor cells expanded ex vivo using the Aastrom Replicell™ system. Developed by Aastrom Biosciences (now Vericel), this therapy leverages the osteogenic and regenerative potential of expanded progenitor cells to promote bone healing. The product contains a mixture of stem and progenitor cells, including mesenchymal stem cells and hematopoietic progenitor cells, which contribute to bone formation and vascularization. It has been investigated in Phase I/II clinical trials for the surgical treatment of non-hypertrophic pseudoarthrosis and complex fractures of long bones, demonstrating safety and efficacy in promoting bone callus formation.
