Overview

Trecepta is a biosimilar of trastuzumab, a recombinant DNA-derived humanized monoclonal antibody that selectively binds with high affinity to the extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). By binding to HER2, Trecepta inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells that overexpress HER2 and mediates antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of HER2-overexpressing breast cancer and metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. Developed as a biosimilar to the reference product Herceptin, Trecepta is marketed in Mexico by Landsteiner Scientific and was produced through a partnership with mAbxience.
