TREG-Tx-1 is a preclinical-stage tolerogenic immunotherapy being developed by TregTherapeutics for the induction of transplantation immune tolerance. It is based on the company's proprietary TILAC (Tolerance Induction via Linked Adjuvant/Cytokine conjugate) platform, which was originated from research at East Carolina University. The TILAC platform utilizes an alum-based adjuvant as a microcarrier conjugated to an anti-inflammatory cytokine (such as interferon-beta). This combination is designed to shift the dendritic cell microenvironment from immunogenic to tolerogenic signaling, promoting the in situ expansion of antigen-specific regulatory T cells (Tregs) and retraining the immune system to tolerate grafts without inducing broad immunosuppression.
