trenonacog alfa

Trenonacog alfa is a recombinant (lab-made) human coagulation factor IX used as a replacement therapy for the prevention and treatment of bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia B. It is administered intravenously and works by restoring deficient or absent factor IX levels in these patients, thereby enabling normal blood clotting. Trenonacog alfa has a primary sequence corresponding to the threonine-148 polymorph of human FIX and demonstrates high purity and appropriate posttranslational modifications such as γ-carboxylation. The drug is indicated for both on-demand control of active bleeds and prophylactic use to reduce bleeding frequency, including perioperative management. Originally developed by Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals, it was further developed by Aptevo Therapeutics before rights were acquired by Medexus Pharmaceuticals[1][3][4][5][6].
