Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Treprostinil liposome** is an investigational sustained-release inhaled liposomal formulation of treprostinil being developed by Liquidia in partnership with Pharmosa for pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease and pulmonary arterial hypertension. The liposomal delivery system encapsulates treprostinil to provide controlled release in the lung and potentially enable longer pulmonary exposure with less frequent dosing than conventional inhaled treprostinil products. Pharmacologically, the active moiety is treprostinil, a prostacyclin analogue that primarily activates the prostacyclin receptor to increase cyclic AMP in vascular smooth muscle, causing pulmonary vasodilation and exerting antiproliferative and antiplatelet effects relevant to pulmonary hypertension. The program is generally identified by the code name L606 and is administered as an inhalation suspension via nebulization.
