Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Treptora is an oral, small-molecule thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist developed and manufactured by Genvio Pharma Limited (also known as Genovi Pharmaceuticals). It is a generic formulation of eltrombopag. The drug acts by interacting with the transmembrane domain of the human TPO receptor, which stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytes from bone marrow progenitor cells, leading to increased platelet production. Treptora is indicated for the treatment of chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in adult and pediatric patients who have had an insufficient response to other therapies such as corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy. It is marketed as an affordable generic alternative to the brand-name product Promacta.
