Overview

Trestione, also known as 7α-methyl-19-norandrostenedione (MENT dione), is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and a derivative of 19-nortestosterone (nandrolone). It functions as a prohormone for trestolone (7α-methyl-19-nortestosterone; MENT), an experimental androgen/anabolic steroid and progestogen. Trestolone acts as a high-affinity agonist of the androgen receptor and also exhibits potent progestogenic activity by binding to the progesterone receptor. This dual agonism leads to antigonadotropic effects by inhibiting the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which in turn suppresses spermatogenesis and can induce temporary infertility. Trestolone is not a substrate for 5α-reductase, contributing to a high anabolic-to-androgenic ratio, and is a substrate for aromatase, producing 7α-methylestradiol as a metabolite. Trestione has been sold on the internet as a "dietary supplement" under the name Mentabolan.
