Overview

Trevogrumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets growth/differentiation factor 8 (GDF8), also known as myostatin. By inhibiting myostatin, trevogrumab is designed to increase muscle mass and strength, making it a potential therapy for conditions characterized by muscle wasting such as sarcopenia (age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass), obesity (to preserve lean mass during weight loss), and musculoskeletal disorders. It is being developed using Regeneron's VelocImmune technology platform. Trevogrumab has been studied both alone and in combination with other agents, such as semaglutide (a GLP-1 receptor agonist) and garetosmab (an anti-activin A antibody), particularly in the context of obesity to enhance fat loss while preserving or increasing lean body mass[2][3][6][8].
