Drug intelligence / Profile preview
tRF-ASO-Exo-PAE is an experimental ophthalmic therapeutic developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University for the treatment of diabetic ocular surface diseases (DOSD). The formulation consists of a poly(β-amino ester) (PAE) hydrogel delivery system that encapsulates exosomes loaded with antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs). These ASOs are designed to target and inhibit specific tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs), which are small non-coding RNAs implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications, including impaired corneal epithelial healing and nerve damage. The PAE hydrogel component is intended to provide sustained release and enhance the stability of the exosome-ASO complex on the ocular surface, potentially improving therapeutic efficacy compared to standard treatments.
