Overview

tRF_G6 mimic is a synthetic RNA oligonucleotide designed to replicate the function of a specific tRNA-derived fragment (tRF) identified in *Ginkgo biloba*. It is being investigated as a novel therapeutic approach for asthma, specifically targeting the underlying process of airway remodeling. The drug works by restoring mitochondrial homeostasis and regulating mitophagy in airway structural cells, which are often dysfunctional in chronic respiratory conditions. Its primary mechanism involves the modulation of Prostate Transmembrane Protein, Androgen Induced 1 (PMEPA1), a target that plays a significant role in cellular structural integrity and mitochondrial health. By addressing these pathways, tRF_G6 mimic aims to reverse airway structural changes and improve therapeutic outcomes in asthma patients who are resistant to conventional treatments.
