TRFK-5

TRFK-5 is a rat-derived IgG1 monoclonal antibody that specifically targets and neutralizes interleukin-5 (IL-5). IL-5 is a key cytokine responsible for the maturation, differentiation, and recruitment of eosinophils, which are central to the pathophysiology of allergic asthma and other eosinophilic inflammatory conditions. By binding to IL-5, TRFK-5 prevents the cytokine from interacting with its receptor on eosinophil precursors and mature cells, thereby inhibiting pulmonary eosinophilia and reducing airway hyperreactivity. Developed and utilized extensively in preclinical research by Schering-Plough and academic institutions, TRFK-5 has served as a critical tool in murine and non-human primate models to validate IL-5 as a therapeutic target for respiratory diseases.
