Overview

TRG-140 is a sustained-release drug delivery system for gemcitabine, developed by Trigone Pharma for the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), specifically in patients who are unresponsive to Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy. The technology is designed to provide prolonged exposure of bladder tumors to gemcitabine by extending the residence time of the drug within the bladder cavity. This sustained-release approach aims to overcome the limitations of standard intravesical instillations, which are often limited by short contact times due to voiding. By maintaining therapeutic concentrations of gemcitabine over an extended period, TRG-140 seeks to improve oncological outcomes for patients with high-risk NMIBC who have failed first-line immunotherapy.
