TRG-140 is a sustained-release drug delivery system for gemcitabine, developed by Trigone Pharma for the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), specifically in patients who are unresponsive to Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy. The technology is designed to provide prolonged exposure of bladder tumors to gemcitabine by extending the residence time of the drug within the bladder cavity. This sustained-release approach aims to overcome the limitations of standard intravesical instillations, which are often limited by short contact times due to voiding.
