Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triacylglycerols containing medium- and long-chain fatty acids (TML) are a type of lipid composed of both medium- and long-chain fatty acids within the same molecule. Studies suggest that dietary TML may have the potential to prevent hypertriglyceridemia and obesity, as evidenced by a significant reduction in the rate of variation of serum triacylglycerol concentration and body fat mass compared to soybean oil in a clinical study. The exact molecular mechanism of action is not detailed, but its effects are attributed to its unique fatty acid composition influencing lipid metabolism.
