Overview

Triamcinolone + gatifloxacin is a fixed-dose combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients used primarily in ophthalmology. Triamcinolone is a synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, acting by inhibiting multiple inflammatory cytokines and suppressing the immune response. Gatifloxacin is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. The combination is typically formulated as an ophthalmic preparation (eye drops or injections) to treat or prevent ocular inflammation (from triamcinolone) and bacterial infections (from gatifloxacin), especially after eye surgery or in severe ocular inflammatory conditions at risk of secondary infection[1][2][6].
