Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triazinate is a synthetic dihydrotriazine derivative with antineoplastic properties. It acts as an antifolate agent related to methotrexate and inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), leading to decreased production of tetrahydrofolate and interference with thymidylate synthesis. Unlike methotrexate, triazinate is not converted to polyglutamate forms. It also inhibits folate transport and may be selectively toxic to methotrexate-resistant tumor cells[1][2].
