Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tribestan is a natural, non-hormonal herbal (phytochemical) small molecule drug/supplement developed and manufactured by Sopharma PLC. Its active ingredients are protodioscin and protogracillin — furostanol-type saponins extracted from the aerial parts of the Bulgarian *Tribulus terrestris* L. plant. The drug is formulated as 250 mg film-coated oral tablets. Tribestan's proposed mechanism involves stimulation of endogenous testosterone production (acting on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis) rather than direct hormonal activity, classifying it as a non-hormonal biostimulator. It is indicated for erectile dysfunction (ED), hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in men, male infertility, and dyslipoproteinemia (reduction of total cholesterol and LDL). It has also been used in women for climacteric and postcastration syndrome.
