Tricalcium phosphate (TCP) varnish is a topical dental formulation used for the prevention and management of dental caries. It typically consists of a fluoride-containing varnish base supplemented with functionalized tricalcium phosphate. The mechanism of action involves the sustained release of calcium and phosphate ions, which work synergistically with fluoride to promote the remineralization of tooth enamel and inhibit demineralization caused by acidogenic bacteria. In clinical research led by Hadeer Mohammed Abd El wahab, this varnish is being evaluated for its inhibitory effects on cariogenic bacteria such as *Streptococcus mutans* and *Lactobacillus*, as well as its impact on salivary pH and immunoglobulin A levels, particularly in high-risk populations such as visually impaired children.
