Overview

Tricetin is a naturally occurring flavone (a type of flavonoid) found in certain plants such as the pollen of Myrtaceae family members and in some cereals and teas. It is characterized by its pentahydroxylated structure. Tricetin has demonstrated notable biological activities including anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. In vitro studies show that it inhibits proliferation of human breast adenocarcinoma MCF-7 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Its anti-inflammatory action has been linked to radical scavenging properties and inhibition of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP1), which plays a role in DNA damage response and inflammation[2][7]. Tricetin is not an approved pharmaceutical drug but is studied for its potential health benefits as a dietary flavonoid.
