**Trichokonin VI** is a linear peptide (peptaibol class), produced by the fungus Trichoderma pseudokoningii and related Trichoderma species[6][1][2]. It has a sequence of 20 amino acids, notable for a high proportion of alpha-aminoisobutyric acid (Aib), characteristic for peptaibols[1]. Trichokonin VI exerts strong antimicrobial activity, particularly as an antifungal and antibacterial agent. Its mechanism of action involves permeabilization of cell membranes, leading to leakage of intracellular materials and disruption of morphological and nanomechanical properties of cells such as Bacillus subtilis[3][9]. At higher concentrations, it causes collapse of bacterial and fungal cell structures[3]. Additionally, trichokonin VI acts as an agonist of L-type calcium channels in bullfrog cardiac membranes, indicating ion channel modulation activity[5]. The compound is under investigation principally as a research tool in microbiology and biochemistry, including as a model for peptaibol biosynthesis and membrane-active peptides[7][6].
