Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triclosan + tobramycin is a small molecule combination drug candidate being developed by TSRLabs for the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) and non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFB). The combination pairs tobramycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic that targets bacterial protein synthesis, with triclosan, an antimicrobial compound that inhibits bacterial fatty acid synthesis. Scientific research has shown that triclosan acts as an adjuvant to tobramycin, and together the two compounds synergistically eradicate *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* biofilms—a key driver of chronic lung infections in CF and NCFB patients—achieving bactericidal effects that neither compound alone can replicate.
