Overview

Tridacaine is a topical prescription product designed as an adhesive patch containing 5% lidocaine. It is indicated for the relief of pain associated with post-herpetic neuralgia and also used to reduce pain from minor skin conditions and moderate to severe chronic pain. Its active ingredient, lidocaine, is an amide-type local anesthetic that stabilizes neuronal membranes by inhibiting sodium ion channels required for the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby blocking pain signal transmission at the site of application. The patch delivers lidocaine through the skin, providing local analgesic effects with minimal systemic absorption. The product is marketed in patch form to be applied directly to intact skin[1][2][4][5][7].
