It is also a component of *Hydnocarpus wightiana* oil and epicuticular waxes of plants. Research indicates its biological activities, including anti-oomycete activity against *Pythium insidiosum*, as well as antibacterial and antifungal properties. Furthermore, tridecanoic acid has been identified as a metabolite involved in various physiological and pathological processes, such as correlating with inflammatory responses in stroke, serving as a predictor for type 2 diabetes mellitus, and being a differential metabolite in conditions like acne with insulin resistance, ulcerative colitis, and subclinical hyperketonemia.
