Overview

Trifolium pratense ethanolic extract (TPEE) is a botanical extract derived from red clover (*Trifolium pratense L.*), a member of the Fabaceae family. It is characterized by a high concentration of isoflavones, such as formononetin, biochanin A, genistein, and daidzein, which act as phytoestrogens by binding to estrogen receptors alpha (ERα) and beta (ERβ). TPEE is primarily utilized as an over-the-counter herbal remedy for the management of menopausal symptoms and has been investigated for its effects on serum lipid profiles, gut microbiota, and cardiovascular health. Additionally, research has explored its potential chemopreventive properties in breast cancer, where it demonstrates biphasic effects on cell proliferation and oxidative stress modulation. It is also used in veterinary contexts as an anticoccidial agent in poultry.
